Sometimes life's responsibilities knock us off track, which happened to me. My apologies! Since I have fallen behind providing show notes, below contains my takeaways from episode 25 featuring Jim Bloch and episode 26 featuring Shay Boyle.
Episode 25: Peace of Mind - How Jim Bloch Defines Success
- Regardless of the profession, we need to understand our “why”
- Words are indicators, but our actions are verifiable
- If we can get kids to execute four things: Do the right thing, the right way, at the right time, and do it with max effort, we will increase our probability for success
- Leaders need to be at their best when those they lead are at their worst (CLICK TO TWEET)
- Eliminate the word “failure” and replace it with “setback.” Help kids manage setbacks effectively regardless of how many steps the process takes to be successful
- Spend more time preparing kids for the path rather than preparing the path for kids
Episode 26: The Best Victories Won't be on the Court (Shay Boyle)
- Whether it’s coaching or teaching, education is about people
- Leaders need to be flexible, have a positive mindset, and be an energy giver
- One common denominator of great leaders: They don't have enemies because they treat people with respect & kindness
- There's no way we're going to know what every kid is going through, but we have to do what we need to do to make sure we understand them
- The best victory in coaching is the development of people
- Concentrate every day at being the best at your current position
